A few weeks ago I stumbled a cross a nice looking anime named Seirei no Moribito or translated "Guardian of the Sacred Water Spirit". So I started watching it and I found a very short and sweet anime series. Though not as amazing as some other famous anime titles, Seirei no Moribito did leave us a nice impression. It runs for a short 26 episodes each one filled with action and emotion that will draw its viewer in. There was one thing that we found a bit annoying was that it did have a few episodes that can be described as "filler" Balsa carrying Chagum
Animation
Some of the most beautiful and stylistic animations we have ever seen. This made a heavy impression on us in the first episode when we noticed that it had a very unique style that was clear and reflected the genre of adventure and fantasy. The animation is gorgeous throughout the series and is unique and different from other animes which is why we enjoyed it so much. There are nice animations of various mystical creatures and characters in the series. There are some scenes of violence but is not too gory. Shaman using her powers
Characters
While there is a small cast of characters we did enjoy watching Balsa, a female bodyguard protecting Chagum. Balsa has a great deal of development in the series and so does Chagum. There were other characters but most of them don't do too much in the series. We enjoyed how there were episodes that focused on Balsa's and Chagum's past and gave us an in depth view of how they became what they were. We were however a bit taken aback about the lack of other characters in the series and it was the same people over and Chagum with other characters over.
Plot
The plot was what gave this series its originality. The story focuses around young Chagum who has a sacred water egg inside of it and Balsa protects him from his own father, the emperor, and his group of elite warriors who try to assassinate Chagum. We don't to spoil the ending to our audience so well give you a brief hint about the rest of the plot. Their is a major plot twist near the last few episodes and let me tell you, the last few episodes were amazing and were a great way to end the series. The ending is very nice and leaves Warriors sent by the emperor the viewer hoping for more.
Soundtrack
None to speak of, we did however enjoy the music in the series even though there was no soundtrack released. The opening fit the series very well and the music while decent did fit the anime nicely.
Overall
A nice anime that is worth watching. It is a good way to waste a weeked. Seirei no Moribito has exceeded our expectations and we recommend it to all our viewers.
